Foods and Nutrition Syllabus

This class is an overview of nutrition and how to cook the foods appropriately to get the most benefits.  Some of the subject areas are social aspects, nutrition, health, safety, sanitation, careers, consumer skills, meal management, food preparation, food science, and lab experiences.

 The students are graded on a point basis on the following:
Chapter workbook
Lab experience
Tests

90% of total points =A
80% of total points =B
70% of total points =C
60% of total points =D
Below =                   F

The discipline will be in accordance with the discipline policy outlined in the agenda.
Student may be grounded from the lab if needed for discipline.  They will be given a written assignment. There will be no I-Pods or cell phone use during class.  If an emergency exists, the office will notify students.  Distruptive students will be given detention.

No student will leave the class without an agenda.

There is a $15 dollar fee to help cover the cost of the food labs. 

The students will do 3 days of text work then 2 days of lab experience. 

Tardies:
1st Tardy- student will spend 20 minutes in detention.
2nd Tardy- student will spend 40 minutes in detention.
3rd Tardy-student will spend 60 minutes in detention.
4th Tardy- student will be sent to Mr. Carter for lunchroom duty.
