Course Title:              The MAN Choir

Prerequisite:              None
Course Objectives:    The MAN Choir provides special training and attention to the development
of the changing and unchanged male voice. Sight singing, music literacy (music smarts), basic music reading, stage presence, selling the song, and harmony will be taught.  Concert attendance is required
Fee:                             $11 District Music Fee, not required

Tardy Policy:             5 points will be taken off your participation grade for tardies, 10 points for being 'late.'  You may, however, make up those points within TWO days of the tardy with a work assignment or detentionThere will be no make-up for tardies after the 3rd tardy.  On the 4th tardy, the student’s parents will be called.  On the 5th tardy, a referral is made to the administration.

 

 

Attendance Policy:    Since this is a participation class, 20 points will be taken off your daily grade for each missed day (unless school excused).  You may, however, make up those points within TWO school days of the absence.   For every absence beyond six, you will not be allowed to make up your participation grade, quizzes, etc.  Some rare exceptions might include funeral and medical with doctor’s note.  As outlined in the school attendance policy, you must have absences cleared through the attendance office and secure an admit slip from the attendance secretary authorizing re-entry into the class.  Therefore, you must show me your admit before class begins.  If you do not have one and need to get one from the office, you will be marked tardy.  Pre-excused absences do not require an admit.  There will be no make-up on quizzes or attendance if a student is truant.  It is important to be to school and to be on time. 
Make-Up Policy:         Quizzes -- Students may make-up missed quizzes. 
                                    Performances – Performances are required.  An “unexcused” absence may result in a grade deduction.  If the student communicates with the instructor and receives an “excused” absence for a performance, the instructor may give a make-up assignment such as a reading or video assignment, outline, and brief presentation given to the class to make-up for the absence.
Absences -- You may make-up participation points by serving a detention or completing an assignment given by the teacher within two days of the absence.
It will be up to you to see the teacher within that time frame to make it up.

IPOD/Cell Phones:    Cell phones & IPODs are not allowed in classes at SRHS
1st Infraction:  Taken and given to office (no warnings this year)
Grading Procedure:  40% Attendance (including concert attendance)
20% Quizzes/Assignments
20% Class Focus
20% Concerts
Class Rules:   a.   Respect teacher, other students, and classroom equipment.All music & equipment checked out to the student during the trimester must be returned or paid for.No gum, food, or drink in the classroom or auditorium (water OK)
